It was pounding

Well as I promised myself I did more hills tonight. Only 4 ............ in the Valley of Suffering again. It was really cold and very windy tonight. The wind was in my face at the start with the temperature right around 48. I had dressed appropriately so I wasn't more than chilly until I was warmed up. The wind however made a mess of my legs as I started in to big a gear I think.

As I stated earlier Ionly did 4 hill repeats. All I could hold was maybe 8 mph all the way up occasionally maxing out at 10 mph. I spun a fair cadence (rpm of the pedal cranks).

My heart was really pounding after the last hill. I do not have a heart rate monitor but I would estimate that I was over 160 bpm. I felt a little stronger than expected I guess but it did hurt quite a bit more than I would have thought it would. I could actually feel pain in the areas between muscles......if that makes sense.

I may have some lingering bike fit issues which I really should address. It is hard to tell though when everything is painful until you get conditioned a get your legs in good form. Seems like I kind of go through this every year albeit not as severe in years past when not trying to prepare for the stress of racing.

I am hopeful to step up the mileage this weekend. I feel like I am getting fitter but not riding enough total miles. We will see.

Good night
